The Partido dos Trabalhadores (Portuguese for Workers' Party) is a political party in Brazil. It was founded by a group of metallurgical workers in São Bernardo do Campo. Brazil's current president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Lula) is one of the most famous members of the party.There are about thirty tendencies within the PT, ranging from the center-left group that Lula is a part of to Trotskyites, Marxists and Christian socialists.
The PT leads the Foro de São Paulo, a grouping of left-wing parties from Latin America.
