A varsity match refers to a sporting fixture between two university rivals. In Britain, the term is generally used to refer to matches between the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, which are traditional rivals.In particular, the Varsity Match usually refers to the annual Oxford-Cambridge rugby union match. This event began in 1872 (although on a few years it has not been held), and since 1921 has been played at Twickenham. Following the 122nd match in December 2003 (which resulted in a draw), Oxford have won 51 games, Cambridge has worn 57, and 14 games have ended in draws.
