Details, Explanation and Meaning About Tour DuPont

Tour DuPont Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

The Tour DuPont was a cycling race in the United States held during the mid-1990s. It was an effort to create a North American cycling event that would be at least somewhat analgous to the Tour de France. It was sponsored by the chemical company which lent its name. As the entire United States would prove to be too large of an area over which to conduct the event, it was held in the Middle Atlantic states, including areas near DuPont's Wilmington, Delaware headquarters.

The event attracted some high-level competitors, notably Lance Armstrong, but never received much attention outside the cycling community and DuPont dropped its expensive sponsorship. It was assumed briefly by Donald Trump, who continued the event as the Tour de Trump, but it still failed to garner much publicity and was cancelled permanently once Trump dropped his sponsorship.
