The Grudge is an American remake of the Japanese movie Ju-On: The Grudge. It stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and is directed by Takeshi Shimizu.

The Grudge officially opened in US theaters on Friday, October 22nd, 2004.
As of 24 October 2004, The Grudge has made $40 million in the North American box office far exceeding the expectations of Sony Pictures. The company revealed that a sequel is being considered. It also stated that it cost "less than $10 million to produce [The Grudge]." The Grudge bumped Shark Tale from its #1 slot.
