The Godfather, Part III Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

The Godfather, Part III is a 1990 film, the third in the Godfather trilogy. It tells the story of a Mafia godfather who tries to legitimize his criminal empire. The plot also involves a fictionalized account of the mysterious 1978 death of Pope John Paul I. It stars Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Andy Garcia, Eli Wallach, Joe Mantegna, George Hamilton, Bridget Fonda and Sofia Coppola.

The movie was written by Mario Puzo and Francis Ford Coppola, and directed by Coppola.

It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Andy Garcia), Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Best Cinematography, Best Director, Best Film Editing, Best Music, Song (for Carmine Coppola and John Bettis for Promise Me You'll Remember) and Best Picture.

Sofia Coppola, who plays Al Pacino's daughter, had played his nephew as an infant in The Godfather. Her character's aunt is played by her real-life aunt, Talia Shire.

Unlike Godfathers Part I and II, Godfather Part III was not critically acclaimed, and fans remain mixed on its legacy.
