The Black Crowes are a taper-friendly rock and roll jam group, formed in 1985 in Atlanta, Georgia. They are heavily influenced by The Faces and Southern rock, and their 5 members includes the brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, Johnny Colt, Steve Gorman and Eddie Harsch. In 1989, they had a demo cassette tape before they made contact with American Recordings before they recorded their first album Shake Your Money Maker.In 1992, they released their second album The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion with 10-songs. The rest of their albums were Amorica (1994); Three Snakes & One Charm; (1996); By Your Side (1999); and Lions (2001).
A live album followed in 2002, before the band took an indefinite hiatus. Chris Robinson released two solo albums: New Earth Mud (2003) and This Magnificent Distance (2004). Meanwhile, Rich Robinson formed a short-lived band called Hookah Brown, before recording his own solo album, 'Paper' (2004). However, it's currently rumoured that the Crowes will regroup in 2005 for a tour and possible box-set of rarities.
