Sveinbjörn Beinteinsson (1924‑1993), a native of Iceland, was a godhi, or Heathen priest. He was important in helping to gain recognition of Asatru, the ancient pre-Christian Norse faith, as legitimate by the Icelandic government in 1973.He voiced strong public opposition to the introduction of nuclear weapons into Iceland by NATO.
Beinteinsson was regarded with much respect and affection in modern-day Asatru and Heathen circles during his lifetime, in his own country and also in Europe and North America.
