Sun Bear Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
The Sun Bear (Ursus (Helarctos) malayanus), also known as Malayan Bear, is the smallest kind of bear. It lives in Southeast Asia. Although it was once given membership in its own genus Helarctos, the sun bear is today often considered to be a member of the Sub-family Ursinae and the genus Ursus. The name "Sun Bear" refers to a crescent-shaped gold-colored marking on its chest.
An adult bear weighs 60-114 pounds; the animals live 20-25 years. Gestation period is 96 days, with each pregnancy producing 1-2 cubs.
