Steve Bruce Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
Steve Bruce is a British football (soccer) manager. He is currently (April 2004) the manager of Birmingham City F.C.Bruce had a long and distinguished career as a centre back for Gillingham, Norwich City, Manchester United, Birmingham City and Sheffield United. His most successful spell was unsurprisingly with Manchester United where he enjoyed a defensive partnership with Gary Pallister. He is often described as the best defender never to play for England.
After Joining Sheffield United as a player-manager, Bruce went on to manage Huddersfield, Wigan and Crystal Palace before joining Birmingham in December 2001. Having taken Birmingham from mid-table to a victorious Play-Off final against Norwich the next May, Bruce continued his remarkable run by guiding the club to 13th in their first season back in the top flight, and then to their first top 10 finish for over 31 years in May 2004.
He was continuously linked with the managerial vacancy at Newcastle United in September,2004 and admitted being tempted to take the post. However he decided to remain loyal to Birmingham and Graeme Souness has since been appointed as Newcastle United manager.
