South Tipperary, until 2002 called Tipperary South Riding, is a local government area in Ireland, consisting of the southern part of County Tipperary. South Tipperary was established in 1898 and has had a county council ever since, and previously has had separate assize courts since 1838. The main town is Clonmel, other important centers include Cashel, Cahir and Tipperary town.
