Halfpipe Men

  1. Ross Powers (USA)
  2. Danny Kass (USA)
  3. Jarret Thomas (USA)

The first time the Americans have swept a Winter Olympic event since the men's figure skaters did it in 1956. Powers, with a score of 46.1, dominated the competition. Kass and Thomas, in contrast, with scores of 42.5 and 42.1, barely beat Giacomo Kratter's score of 42.0. A crowd of about 16,500 watched.

Powers got a vertical of about 18 feet, and performed two McTwists, a cab 720 with an indy grab, a frontside 720 with an indy grab and a stalefish grab.

Schoch's qualification for the last 16 was already remarkable, but is title is even more so. Chris Klug had a liver transplantation 2 years prior.
