Details, Explanation and Meaning About Smelly Cat

Smelly Cat Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

Smelly Cat was the flagship song of Phoebe Buffay on the popular TV sitcom Friends. She regularly sang it as part of her act in the Central Perk coffee shop.

The lyrics are:

Chorus
Smelly cat, Smelly cat,
What are they feeding you?
Smelly cat, Smelly cat,
It's not your fault.
Verse
They won't take you to the vet,
You're obviously not their favourate pet,
You're no bed of roses,
Not a friend to people with noses.
(repeat chorus)

Despite only having one verse, the song was almost released as a commercial record, which would have apparently led to an album. However, this was haulted when Phoebe discovered that the voice on the recording was not hers, but that of a middle-aged singer, who was too old and average looking to be a serious pop star. Instantly realising the connection between this singer and Smelly Cat Phoebe declared "My God! That song works on so many levels!"

Afterwards, the song was turned into a cat litter jingle.
