The Savannah River Site is a nuclear materials processing center in the US state of South Carolina, located on land adjacent to the Savannah River near Augusta, Georgia. It is operated by the US Department of Energy.The site was built during the 1950s to refine nuclear materials for deployment in warheads.
U.S. Highway 278 runs through the site but access is controlled.
