Satu Maijastiina Hassi (born
3 June 1951) is a
Finnish Member of the
European Parliament. She served as the Minister of Environment and Development Co-Operation in
Lipponen's second cabinet between
15 April 1999 and
31 May 2002; she left the cabinet prematurely in response to the decision to build a fifth nuclear power plant in Finland. Her party affiliation is Green; she served as the leader of the party between
1999 and
2001. She was a member of the national parliament in
1991-
2004; she leaves the parliament due to being elected in the European Parliament as the sole Finnish Green representative in the
2004 elections.
