Sasha Cohen, born Alexandra Pauline Cohen (October 26, 1984), is an American figure skater. A gymnast from a early age, Sasha switched to figure skating when she was seven years old. She is known for her flexibility and grace on the ice. Sasha competed in Salt Lake City in the 2002 Winter Olympics, finishing fourth. Her best season was 2003-04 when she took gold at three Grand Prix Events and silver at both the U.S. National Championships and the World Championships.Sasha was coached by John Nicks, until the summer of 2003, when she relocated to Simsbury, Connecticut to train with Russian coach Tatiana Tarasova. She changed coaches again in January, 2004 to Robin Wagner.
Sasha's goals are to capture the gold in 2006 and to be the world champion in 2006. She is curently working on a quadruple salchow, but says it will be a while before she feels confident enough to do them in compition. Sasha's coach, Robin Wagner (who coached Sarah Hughes to Olympic gold) now trains Sasha in Hacknsack, New Jersey, a short drive from Sasha's New York apartment.
