Biography
Born in Arlington, Virginia, to the late German-born opera singer Helga Meyer, and American voice teacher John Bullock, she started singing as a child and learned to speak German. During her childhood, she lived in Germany, studied ballet, and performed small parts in her Mother's operas. Sandra attended Washington-Lee High School where she was a cheerleader and was voted "Most likely to brighten up your day" by her high school class.
Sandra majored in Drama at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. She dropped out to pursue acting in New York City but found it difficult to establish herself. She moved to Los Angeles, California and landed a series of small roles in several independent films. Eventually, she got the lead role in the television version of the movie Working Girl.
Her first notable movie appearance was in Demolition Man in 1993. That led to her breakthrough performance in Speed the following year. She became a bona fide star in the mid-late 1990's, carrying a string of hits on the strength of her name alone.
Bullock has never married and has no children, but she is currently dating motorcycle builder and Monster Garage host Jesse James. She dated actor Matthew McConaughey, actor Ryan Gosling and was once engaged to actor Tate Donovan.
