Saint Afra (died 304) was a Christian martyr.She was allegedly originally a courtesan in Augsburg She sheltered the bishop who had converted her. The authorities of the Diocletian persecution condemned her to burn alive, then burnt her mother Saint Hilaria and her maids Ligna, Eunonia and Eutropia as they interred her in a vault. according to another version, she was beheaded.
The feast of Saint Afra occurs on 5 August, according to some missals 6 August or 7 August.
