The Sagittarius Arm or Sagittarius-Carina Arm (labeled "-I") is one of two major spiral arms of the Milky Way galaxy, along with the Cygnus Arm. The dense, inner arm of Sagittarius is located between the Scutum-Crux Arm and the Orion Arm. It is named after its proximity to the Sagittarius constellation, in the direction of the galactic center.A number of Messier objects are found in the Sagittarius Arm: M8, M11, M16, M17, M18, M20, M21, M24, M26, M55.
