Royal Institute of International Affairs Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
The Royal Institute of International Affairs (RIIA), now no longer exists, and has been rebranded as Chatham House after its headquarters building. It is a British institute for the analysis of current affairs around the world. It is the origin of an anonymity rule known as the Chatham House Rule. This rule states that members of a seminar may discuss the results of the seminar in the outside world, but may not discuss who attended or what they said. This enables a frank and honest discussion of topical issues without participants feeling that they may compromise their position. (However, most RIIA meetings are held 'on the record', not under the Chatham House Rule.)
It was founded in 1920.
Its current chairman is Dr. Deanne Julius.
