Roundhead Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
The Roundheads (or Parliamentarians) were the Puritans under Oliver Cromwell in the English Civil War. They were the Protestants, and the largely Anglican Royalists on the other side were the Cavaliers. They were so nicknamed because of the relatively short plain page boy style haircuts they favoured, rather than the long ringlets of the fashionable Cavaliers.
The name started as a term of abuse and in the New Model Army it was a punishable offence to call a fellow soldier a Roundhead.
