Rob Grant is a British comedy writer. With Doug Naylor he worked on Spitting Image, Red Dwarf, The 10 Percenters and various Jasper Carrot projects.After the sixth series of Red Dwarf, Grant left, saying he wished to "have more on my tombstone that Red Dwarf". He has since written 2 TV series, Dark Ages and The Strangerers, and has written three books:
- Backwards, a sequel to the last joint Red Dwarf book Better Than Life
- Colony, which uses many of the same themes
- Incompetence, a detective story set in the near future where incompetence is a way of life
