Richie Rich is a fictional character appearing in Harvey Comics beginning in the 1950s. Known as the Poor little Rich Boy, or the Richest Kid in the World, Richie Rich appeared in several comic book titles in the 1960s and 1970s, such as Richie Rich Millions (1961) and Richie Rich Dollars & Cents (1963).Richie is the only child of fantastically wealthy parents. He lives and works in an expansive mansion and owns at least two of everything money could buy. He appears to be around 7-10 years old, wears a waistcoat and blue shorts, and occasionally attends school.
The series was created by cartoonist Warren Kremer
In 1980, Richie Rich appeared in his own animated television series, sharing a timeslot with Scooby-Doo. In the animated version, Richie and his pals are somewhat older, around 12 years old. In the cartoon, Richie wears a red sweater with the letter "R" in front.
In 1994, a Richie Rich movie, starring Macaulay Culkin as the title character, was released.
In 1996, The second Richie Rich cartoon series aired in syndication, starring Katie Leigh as the voice of the title character who appeared in 13 all-new short films.
