Railway Rivals Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
A board game released by Games Workshop in 1985.The inventor, David Watts, had already had some success with the game, published first by Butehorn and then by Schmidt, and in fact it had won the Spiel des Jahres in 1984. The game belongs to a popular sub-genre of board games based around railway development.
The game board was made of laminated card, with a map of Central England on one side and the Western USA on the other. Players draw tracks on the card using felt pens, so at the end of the game the board can be cleaned for reuse. The first part of the game is about drawing tracks to link cities. Trains are then raced along the tracks between the cities.
The game has subsequently been republised under its original name, as Dampfross, initially by Laurin and then by Mayfair Games.
