In addition to Christian holidays, Ghana celebrates Independence Day (6 March, )and Republic day (1 July), and National Liberation Day (24 Feburary).Another important holiday observed in Ghana is the farmers day. Introduced by Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the National Farmers Day was organised as a day’s activity for the nation to honour its hard working farmers who excelled in their contribution to improve the Agricultural sector with certificates and prizes. In 1988, the first Friday of every December was set aside by the Government as Farmers Day. Till today it is celebrated as statutory Public Holiday.
