PRV engine Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
The PRV engine is an automobile petrol-driven engine that was developed jointly by Peugeot, Renault and Volvo Cars, and produced by a joint-venture named CFM "Compagnie Française de Mécanique". Originally the range of engines was to include a V8 as well as the V6, but the oil crisis of the early 1970s killed off the V8. Its legacy remains, though, in the 90° angle between the cylinder banks, which is the natural V8 angle but is unusual for a V6, in which a 60° angle is more common and better balanced. The PRV engine was launched in 1975 in the Peugeot 604, Renault 30, and Volvo 260 and has since then been used in many more models.
