His Royal Highness Prince Kyril of Bulgaria (1895 - 1945) was the brother of King Boris III of Bulgaria.After his brother died on August 28 1943, Kyril was appointed head of a regency concil by the Bulgarian parliament, to serve as acting Head of State until the late king's son, Simeon II turned 18.
In 1945 a Soviet-backed military coup swept Bulgaria, killing most of the regency council, including Prince Kyril. Simeon became tsar, but the Bulgarian monarchy was abolished under the new Communist government.
