Peter Charles Newman (born May 10 1929 in Vienna, Austria) is a Canadian journalist who emigrated to Canada in 1940. He served as editor of Maclean's and the Toronto Star. In 1978 he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada and was promoted to Companion in 1990.Newman is widely respected for his intimate knowledge and understanding of Canadian business leads. His 1976 book, The Canadian Establishment was widely acclaimed and led to a number of other books on the subject including:
