Perchlorate Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

Perchlorates are the salts of perchloric acid (HClO₄). Most perchlorate salts are soluble in water, giving strongly oxidizing solutions.

In 2004, perchlorate was found in the milk of cows raised in California, with an average level of 1.3 parts per billion.

Both potassium perchlorate (KClO₄) and ammonium perchlorate (NH₄ClO₄) are used extensively within the pyrotechnics industry. Ammonium Perchlorate is also notable as a major ingredient of the Space Shuttle's solid rocket booster fuel.
