Pastwatch Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
Pastwatch: the Redemption of Christopher Columbus is a science-fiction novel by noted author Orson Scott Card. In the future, mankind has developed the technology to visually reconstruct the events of the past, on the theory that, since all molecules on this planet have been here from the beginning, if you trace their movements far back enough, you can eventually figure out what they were doing a thousand, two thousand, ten thousand years ago. After the scientists deduce that Utnapishtim and Noah are the same man, who sailed from a drowning Atlantis (now under the Black Sea), attention turns to Cristoforo Columbo, a Portuguese sailor who is revealed to have made a number of devastating mistakes and misunderstandings, not the least of which was tripping over the New World while looking for India. When time travel technology is developed, two agents are sent back to 1492 to alter his actions for the better, and appear to succeed--though we, personally, wouldn't know it, since their actions causes our timeline to disappear.A sequel, is planned for some time in the near future.
