Nöteborg was a Swedish fortress built at Orechovets on the border to Novgorod in 1300. The Treaty of Nöteborg signed on August 12, 1323, regulated the border between Sweden and Novgorod for the first time. Of strategic importance, the area changed hands a number of times; today, it is Shlisselburg, Russia.See also: Nyen
