Nimbin Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
Nimbin is a small town in northern New South Wales, Australia. In a former life it was a sleepy dairy town. In 1973 the Aquarius Festival, a large gathering of hippies, was held in the town. Many revellers stayed on to form communes.In more recent times, drugs have been both a blessing and a curse. The annual Mardi Grass festival sees thousands descend on the town for Cannabis-based fun and frivolity. Heroin and other hard drugs have become something of a problem.
Nimbin is located in northern New South Wales, not far from Goolmangar. The closest airport is in Lismore, or larger ones at Ballina and Coolangatta, which is some way away, as Nimbin is quite far inland. As a result, most tourists drive there, often in kombiss.
