Billy Coutu and Sprague Cleghorn of the Montreal Canadiens were traded to the Hamilton Tigers prior to the start of the 1921/22 season. In exchange, the Canadiens received Harry Mummery, Amos Arbour, and Cully Wilson. This was the NHL's first multiple-player trade.
