National University of Singapore Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

The National University of Singapore is located in the southwest of the Republic of Singapore - it is bounded by the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE), Clementi Road, Buona Vista Road and Kent Ridge Park. The NUS originates from The Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States Government Medical School, founded in 1905. In 1980 the NUS was created from a merger of the Nanyang University and the University of Singapore.

The NUS was listed as one of the best universities in Asia by AsiaWeek magazine (now defunct). With the university vision of "Towards a Global Knowledge Enterprise", the NUS strikes to provide a balanced, quality education, and to encourage scholarship at the highest level.

NUS has 11 faculties: Arts and Social Science, Business, Computing, Dentistry , Design and Environment, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Music, Science and University Scholars Programme, with an enrollment of more than 23,000 undergraduates and 9,000 graduate students.
