Nathaniel Branden Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
Nathaniel Branden is a psychotherapist and author of books on psychology (in which he holds a Ph.D) and philosophy. In addition to his pioneering work on the psychology of self-esteem, Branden has also played a key role in developing and promoting Ayn Rand's philosophic system, which is known as Objectivism.Branden was born in 1930 with the name Nathan Blumenthal in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
In 1950, after having exchanged letters and phone conversations, Branden met Ayn Rand. The pair went on to develop a profound eighteen-year relationship. Eventually, Ayn and Nathaniel had a romantic affair, despite both being married. In 1968, their relationship came to an abrupt end.
In (1986) Branden published his account of this time in his life. The memoir was entitled Judgment Day. Then in (1999), Branden re-published a revised addition, entitled My Years with Ayn Rand. Branden's dramtic story and illustrated experiences provide an inside view of Ayn Rand as a person, the development of Objectivism, its inner circle, and the tumultuous realtionships between Ayn Rand and those who loved her.
The name Nathaniel Branden has become synonymous with "the psychology of self-esteem," a field he began pioneering over thirty years ago. He has done more, perhaps, than any other theorist to awaken America's consciousness to the importance of self-esteem to human well-being.
Nathaniel Branden continues to write, practice psychotherapy in Los Angeles, California, as well as present seminars and workshops on various aspects of self-esteem.
