Nashorn Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
The Nashorn or Hornisse was a German tank destroyer of World War II.Mounting a long 88mm gun it was developed in 1943 and could destroy Russian tanks at long range. It had relatively little armour protection and an open roof, making it very vulnerable at short range. It continued in front-line service in small numbers until the end of the War.
The original development name of 'Nashorn' (Rhinoceros) was altered to 'Hornisse' (Hornet) at Hitler's insistence.
