Mr. Bungle Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
Mr. Bungle is a musical group that fuses elements of heavy metal, rock music, ska, free jazz, pop, contemporary art music, and many other musical styles, often within a single track. This fast-change tendency is sometimes similar to John Zorn's Naked City. (Zorn produced the first Mr. Bungle release; singer Mike Patton has collaborated with Zorn.)The regular members of Mr. Bungle include:
- Mike Patton - vocals
- Trey Spruance - guitar
- Trevor Dunn - bass
- Danny Heifetz - drums
- Bär McKinnon; - reeds
Mr. Bungle have released three albums. Their self-titled debut, recorded a year after Patton was recruited into Faith No More, is mostly made up of songs culled from the band's early demos, which they re-recorded with jazz experimentalist John Zorn as producer. The content is decidedly adolescent and scatological, with song titles such as The Girls of Porn and My Ass is On Fire.
Disco Volante, their second major release, has a completely different tone. The scatology is conspicuously absent, and the music ventures into more complex formal and sonic territory.
The band's third album, California, is certainly their most accessible album, with tracks such as Sweet Charity, Retrovertigo and Pink Cigarette firmly rooted in pop styles.
Mr. Bungle is currently disbanded, according to its management and various band members.
