Mortsel is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality only comprises the town of Mortsel proper. On January 1st, 2004 Mortsel had a total population of 24,450 (11,716 males and 12,734 females). The total area is 7.78 km² which gives a population density of 3,140.98 inhabitants per km².
