Mill Hill Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
Mill Hill is a town in London, England in the London Borough of Barnet. Mill Hill enjoys the elevated house prices of London (and is oft quoted as the "new Hampstead"), yet is far away enough from the city center to be clasified as a quiet suburb. Mill Hill is split into three distinct areas: Mill Hill Village, Mill Hill Broadway and Mill Hill East.
Mill Hill Broadway
Built mostly in the 1920s and 1930s on farmland known as [The Hale]. One of the original Victorian farmhouses is still standing on Newcombe Park and is currently used as an office block.
The central shopping street and home of the station is known as The Broadway (A5100) and houses a number of cosmopolitan cafes, resturants, bouquets and drinking establisments. Bar Indigo is a popular night spot with the morally indefensable, disaffectioned youth of the area - and a number of becks.
The station (Mill Hill Broadway) is connected to the Thameslink network and is part of the main north-bound trainline from London. Services run regularly into Central London's Kings Cross, Farringdon and City Thameslink as well as heading north to Luton Airport
Mill Hill Broadway used to have a Tube station called The Hale, which was closed around 1942.
Also home to Mill Hill Synagogue
Mill Hill Village
The historical heart of Mill Hill, can be tranced back to Norman times and is found in the Magna Carta. In beautiful sourroundings, it's cottages enjoy a peacful and quiet environment, but a mere 5 minutes away from the bustle of Mill Hill Broadway and the [M1].
Mill Hill Village has a Public School, the Mill Hill Boy School, with it's own rich traditions (though fagging was banned in the early 80's), a Convent and a medical research center.
Mill Hill East
Not much to say, has a under-used army barracks, a tip, a depot for London Borough of Barnet service vehicles and Mill Hill East Tube Station. Used to have a Town Gas container which has now been replaced by Waitrose.
