Lowell Palmer Weicker, Jr. is an American politician who has served as a U.S. Representative and U.S. Senator representing Connecticut and also as Governor of the same state.Born in Paris, France on May 16, 1931. Republican. Graduate of Lawrenceville Academy, Yale University, and the University of Virginia Law School. Served as State representative in Connecticut general assembly 1962-66. Member of the U.S. House of representatives from 1969-1971. Member of the U.S. Senate from 1971 to 1989. Governor of Connecticut (as an Independent) from 1990-1994. Has a reputation for courting controversy, and as such is well-liked by his friends and deeply disliked by his detractors.
