Lisbon Lions Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

The Lisbon Lions is the nickname given to the Glasgow Celtic team that won the European Cup at the Estadio Nacional in Lisbon, Portugal on May 25, 1967, defeating Inter Milan 2-1. All the members of this team were born within 25 miles of Glasgow, Scotland, making Celtic one of the few teams in European football history to have won a major championship with all-local players.

There were attempts by English media to appropriate the nickname for the England national team in the Euro 2004 finals.
