Left-bank Ukraine Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

Left-bank Ukraine (Ukrainian: Лівобережна Україна Russian: Левобережная Украина, Polish: Lewobrzeżna Ukraina ), a historical name of a part of Ukraine on the left bank of the Dnipro river, consisting of modern day Chernihiv, Poltava, Sumy, eastern part of Kyiv and Cherkasy region, in Russian historiosophy called Little Russia. Since the Treaty of Pereyaslav of 1654, this region of Ukriane has been under Muscovite control, later reaffirmed Treaty of Andrusiv (1667) and Eternal Peace Treaty (1686) between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Muscovy.

Left-bank Ukraine initial had a certain level of autonomy within Muscovy (since 1721, imperial Russia), which was gradually eliminated through the 18th century.
