Land reclamation Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
Land reclamation refers to two distinct practices. Both involve modifying a land area into a desired state. However, one often involves restoring the land to a more natural state while the other is by definition a major change from the area's natural state.
Creating new land
Land reclamation is the creation of new land where there was once water. Notable examples include the city of Washington, DC (which is built on land that was once swamp) and the polders of the Netherlands . The southern Chinese cities of Hong Kong and Macau and the city-state of Singapore are also famous for their efforts on land reclamation.
