Kingu was a demon in Babylonian mythology, and the consort of the goddess Tiamat before she was slain by Marduk. Tiamat gave Kingu the Tablets of Fate, which he wore as a breastplate and which gave him great power. Eventually, he was killed by Marduk and his blood was used to create mankind.
