Katikati is a town located on near the tidal inlet opened by Matakana Island in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. The nearest city is Tauranga.It is renowned for its many murals painted on what would otherwise be blank walls of both commercial and residential buildings, started in the 1990s as a project to regenerate tourist interest in the town and district.
