Jonathan Ive Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description

Jonathan Ive (born 1967) is vice president of industrial design at Apple Computer. Born in London, England, Ive is credited with designing the iMac, a key product in turning Apple's fortunes at a difficult time for the company and re-establishing its reputation for products which are mould-breaking.

Ive studied art and design at Newcastle Polytechnic before setting up his own Tangerine design house. Apple was one of his clients, and were so impressed with his work for them that in 1992 they offered him a job in their Cupertino headquarters to turn around their ailing design division. He worked on the original iMac and its successors as well as other notable products such as the iPod, Power Mac G4 Cube, and Power Mac G5.

Ive is winner of the Design Museum's inaugural Designer of the Year award in 2003.

Ive is quoted as saying: "Very often design is the most immediate way of defining what products become in people's minds".
