John Whitehead Guide, Meaning , Facts, Information and Description
John Whitehead (1949-2004) R&B; star of the 1970s Philadelphia soul act McFadden & Whitehead; was best known with partner Gene McFadden for the 1979 hit Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now. McFadden & Whitehead were songwriters before recording artists. After being discovered by the legendary Otis Redding, they went on to write 'Backstabbers' for the O'Jays as well as hits for Harold Melvin & the Bluenotes and Archie Bell & The Drells. They also worked with Melba Moore, Freddie Jackson and Gloria Gaynor. Whitehead was murdered by an unknown gunman while fixing his car on the street outside his Philadelphia home.
