Jared M. Diamond (born September 10, 1937) is an American evolutionary biologist, physiologist, and biogeographer. As of June 2004, he is professor of geography at the University of California, Los Angeles, and was formerly professor of physiology at the UCLA School of Medicine.

Diamond is best known as an author of popular science works that combine anthropology, biology and history. He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1998 for his book Guns, Germs and Steel, which proposes that geographic and environmental factors were the ultimate cause of the rise of Western hegemony in the world.

Diamond is also a member of the American Philosophical Society, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the National Academy of Sciences.
