Jack Vettriano (born 1951 Fife) is a painter. In 1988, two of his paintings were part of an exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy. Successful exhibitions in Edinburgh, London, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, and New York followed. His paintings are reminiscent of the film noir genre, with often sexual themes.He uses himself and a model for all his paintings. Each year a new set of limited edition prints are published. Interest in Vettriano's work is at an all time high following the auction of the original Singing Butler painting for £744,500. Others dismiss it as vulgar and devoid of imagination.
He has studios in Scotland and London, and is represented by the Portland Gallery, London.
