Jabir al-Ahmad al-Jabir Al Sabah (born June 29, 1926) is the emir of Kuwait. He succeeded his cousin, Sabah al-Salim al-Sabah in December 1977, and had been Prime Minister of Kuwait for a decade before.

He was briefly deposed following the 1990 Iraqi Invasion of Kuwait in which Iraqi governor Ali Hassan al-Majid was installed as a provisional Head of State. From August 2, 1990 to March 14, 1991 the emir was exiled in Saudi Arabia. He returned to the throne following the liberation of his country by international forces in the Gulf War.

He dissolved the National Assembly of Kuwait in 1981, but under US pressures following the liberation of Kuwait, he restored it in 1991. In 1999 his government enfranchised women.
