Hubli-Dharwad is a twin city in the state of Karnataka in India.Dharwad is the cultural capital of Northern Karnataka. It is home of great hindustani singers such as Kumar Gandharva, Basavaraj Rajguru,Gangubai Hanagal, Bheemasen Joshi, Mallikarjun Mansur etc. It is a centre of learning with numerous famous highschools, colleges and universitites. The Karnatak University, University of Agricultural Sciences, SDM College of Engineering, Dakshina Bharata Hindi Prachar Sabha, SDM college of Dental Sciences, SDM college of Medical sciences are notable among them. It is home of many poets such as Da Ra Bendre, Chennaveer Kanavi, V K Gokak, N K Kulkarni etc. Dharwad is also known for Dharwad Pedha,a sweet made from milk; she-buffalloes for their milk and other delicacies. Dut to extremely favourable climatic conditions and because of the aestheitic people, it is often 'paradise of pentioners'
Hubli which is situated at round 20 km from Dharwad is the commercial centre.
